Architecture and hiring on a white-label travel product.

We worked at LateRooms in Manchester through 2019 at principal engineer level, on a white-label travel product, through an agency partner. React sat over a C# microservices stack.

We guided the architecture on the product and set the practice the team worked to. Mentoring and hiring were part of the same role.

A principal role on a microservices estate is mostly about the calls that are expensive to reverse, and about whether the people arriving can work to the standard already set.

Our record of this engagement is short. It names the role, the product as white-label travel, the stack as React over C# microservices, and mentorship and hiring as part of the job.

It does not say how large the team was, how many people we hired, which architectural decisions were ours, or what the product covered beyond travel. There is no figure on it, and none is invented here.
